Three cities, three signatures all supporting daily passenger train service through Wichita. Friday afternoon the City of Wichita announced Mayor Carl Brewer along with the mayors of Oklahoma City and Kansas City have signed a joint letter of support. Click here to read press release The idea is to close the 185 mile gap and provide passenger train service from Oklahoma City to Wichita. On top of the letter, the city says the Kansas Department of Transportation has authorized the City of Wichita to pursue federal funding for this expansion.

There's an interesting new twist in the battle over a planned Wichita abortion clinic. It involves the potentially confusing use of a corporate name. Two groups on opposing sides of the abortion issue have legal rights to names that appear quite similar. Work is underway to make a building on East Kellogg an active abortion clinic again. The non-profit group behind the effort is the Trust Women Foundation. It was formed by Julie Burkhart, a friend and longtime colleague of the late Dr. George Tiller.

Wichita police are still looking for two suspects involved in a drive by shooting. Around 3:00, someone called 911 to report a shooting in the parking lot of the Family Dollar at 13th and Waco. The shooting prompted USD 259 to put North High, Marshall and Woodland on lock down. The lock down has been lifted. When police arrived, the suspects were gone. They interviewed witnesses and started searching the area. That's when they found a van had crashed with a truck at 11th and Waco.

The Dallas Cowboys have signed running back Joseph Randle, their fifth-round pick, and shuffled the roster of undrafted free agents. Randle, who skipped his final season at Oklahoma State to enter the draft, signed a four-year contract Monday. The Cowboys also signed three players off the workout roster from rookie minicamp and released three other players. The Cowboys added offensive linemen Edawn Coughman and D.J. Hall and receiver Anthony Amos on Monday after a three-day minicamp over the weekend.

A woman suffered serious burn injuries after an explosion leveled a home in Downs. It happened overnight in the small town of Downs in Osborne county. The family is thanking a neighbor's quick-thinking--- he pulled the woman to safety. "It could have been a lot worse than what it is ," said the woman's daughter, Corrine Hoard. She's emotional as she thinks about what her mother went through. Early Friday morning, Nyla Powell's house exploded, catching fire. Hoard says neighbors told her the house was engulfed within minutes.

The father of a Wichita woman accused of murder said he is worried about someone taking revenge on his family. Ebony Nguyen, 21, was arrested in connection to the shooting death of 19-year-old Jordan Turner. His body was found in a field southeast of Wichita Wednesday. Authorities believe he was killed around March 31. Nguyen was one of four suspects arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder. Her father, Thomson, said it was the hardest night of his life when officers came to his home looking to arrest Ebony.

Wichita police and other law enforcement agencies have a message for you - Click It or Ticket... Drivers can expect to see increased enforcement of seat belt laws as part of the 2013 Kansas Click It or Ticket traffic enforcement campaign. That campaign runs from Monday, May 20 through Sunday, June 2 and is paid for through a grant from the Kansas Department of Transportation. Police say drivers can expect strict enforcement of both the Safety Belt Use Act and the Child Passenger Safety Act. More on Kansas Seat Belt Laws from the Wichita Police Department: Cops can stop vehicles and issue tickets whenever they see front seat occupants or children under 14 riding without proper restraint.

The murder trial of a former Kansas police instructor and Sedgwick County deputy has been postponed until May. Brett Seacat will now go on trial on May 20, 2013 for the death of his wife, Vashti, in April 2011. Prosecutors say Seacat shot his wife, then set their Kingman home on fire. Seacat is also charged with aggravated arson and two counts of aggravated child endangerment. Prosecutors say the couple's two children were in the house when the murder occurred.

The Workforce Alliance of South Central Kansas opens a new one-stop workforce center in Cowley County. The new center is located in the Community National Bank Building at 108 E. 12th in Winfield. According to the Workforce Alliance, the center will help connect people looking for jobs with resources to find and keep a job. That includes assistance with resumes and job searches as well as information about training and further education. Cowley County used to have a workforce center, but it closed in December of 2009.

Doors were locked at Newton High School Thursday. School officials say it was a precaution after one of their teachers was arrested Wednesday. According to Newton Police, 45-year-old Eden Bloom was asked to leave the school several times before a School Resource Officer arrested her. That's when they found methamphetamine in her possession. “At the time of the incident no students were in danger,” said Newton Police Deputy Chief Eric Murphy. Newton parents received an alert on Thursday afternoon around 1:30 that there was increased security at the school.

There's a debate in Orange County, California, should people have to pay for their rescues? It's become an issue in the case of two teenagers who were rescued from a canyon last month after they got disoriented during a hike. Officials found drugs in their car, and some think that means they were victims of their own recklessness and should have to pay the price. The cost of the two day search and rescue is put at about $160,000. ...

The newest and best course in the five Wichita city courses is also the crown jewel of them. Auburn Hills is a little over 12 years and it is the hardest course in the city. That's not just me saying that, it's the Web.com Tour as well. It's one of the courses the Monday qualifier is played for the Air Capital Classic. It's a beast. Stretched to it's max, the course goes beyond 7,000 yards (yet still not the longest in the city) and the zoysia fairways help the ball roll in a little further and you'll need it. Tex Consolver might be the longest but Auburn Hills is the hardest.
