6th Annual Pioneer Day at Ellis County Historical Society Museum - 100 W 7th - 9:30 am-2:30 pm - 785-628-2624 - This is a free, educational, outdoor event for elementary age children. Learn and have fun at our more than 15 hands-on demonstrations. Throughout the years we have had demonstrations on: butter churning, cross bow sawing, washing clothes with homemade soap & wash board, relay and sack races, rug braiding, old time toys & games, music, storytelling, a general store, grooming horses, milking a goat and a petting zoo. Plus tour the Volga German Haus and the Harness Shop. No admission fee. Public invited.

Visit our ribbon & trophy room, and see how the horses are trained in the lounging pen, the obstacle course, and how to give surrey or cart rides. Learn about how they are imprinted trained, how & why they are groomed, and see what they eat and where they live. Admission Fee applies and includes: Demonstrations of miniatures trained to obstacle course, training in the lounging pen, grooming for the show ring and imprint training. Tours will be held at 10 am, 12 pm and 2 pm. Music & cart rides , are scheduled for 11 am, 1 pm & 3 pm. Blue Sky Miniature Horse Farm is a registered Kansas Agritourism Site and is a member of the Amazing 100 Miles Tourism Coalition. All miniature show horses are double registered with the American Miniature Horse Association - Texas and the American Miniature Horse Registry - Illinois.
