Neighbors near 10th and Volutsia complained for years about living near an illegal dump. Friday, the City of Wichita files a lawsuit against the property owner. The house isn't visible because garbage six feet high covers the property.
Neighbors say it has been a problem for twenty years. It's not only an eye soar; they say rats and roaches fill the block. And many complain the pesticides used to fight the rodents are causing health problems.
The city of Wichita wants a judge to let its workers clean up the property. It then wants to send owner Gregory Gracey the bill. The lawsuit says citizens will suffer irreparable harm if the property is allowed to remain in its current condition
