With just hours before the polls open, groups for and against gambling are making a final push to get your vote. "No Casinos In Sedgwick County" held signs over the lunch hour at a busy Wichita intersection. The group is also holding a rally at Riverside Park Monday evening.
"We're still hopeful we're going to win," said Mark Kahrs, No Casinos spokesperson. "We know it's very close."
Meanwhile, the "Yes For Progress" campaign is busy working the phones. They're calling thousands of voters for the same reason. Our exclusive Fact-Finder 12 Scientific Survey shows that support has tapered off since April. Now it appears they are nearly tied with the "No" group. Yes For Progress also thinks it will be a close call.
"I'm not a tremendous believer in polls," said Yes For Progress spokesperson Randy Brown. "I think they give you a nice snapshot in time but what people actually do when they pull that lever, that's the poll we're interested in."
