TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) - Gov. Kathleen Sebelius signed a bill creating a "Gold Star Mother" license plate.
The bill the governor signed Tuesday makes the plate available to mothers of military service members who died on active duty.
Sebelius said she hopes the plates "will serve as a constant reminder of the ultimate sacrifice these sons and daughters have made."
Kansas is the 23rd state to issue "Gold Star Mother" license plates.
The governor has signed 59 bills this year and vetoed one that would have allowed construction of two coal-fired energy plants in western Kansas.
