Airlines Slashing Prices

July 08, 2009

by Michael Schwanke

If you need to fly in the next several months, now is the time to buy.

"They're trying to get money on the books," says TravelTime travel agent Suzanne Krause.

Airlines like AirTran, Frontier and Allegiant are all offering big deals right now.

The price cuts were started by Southwest and other airlines followed.

A bad economy means fewer people are flying and Krause says that's good news for passengers.

"Everybody isn't sure what's going on they don't want to plan to far ahead because of jobs. The airlines are forcing their hand saying this is such a good deal you have to book."

If you want a deal you'll have to act quickly.

Airtran tickets have to be booked by July 9th with travel through November 11th.

Frontier tickets have to be booked by July 14th with travel through January 15th.

Allegiant tickets have to be booked by July 22nd with travel through January 31st.

Some tickets are going for less than $50.
