(WICHITA, Kan.)

You may be thinking about the people serving overseas this Veterans Day. Maybe you want to send them a holiday gift.

But you have just two days to do it.

It's the end of the day for Mr. Condray's class. His sixth graders take a break from math and social studies by coloring American flags.

Those flags will go into care packages, along with snack cakes, Red Bull energy drinks, dental floss, and footballs.

"It's kind of my way of giving back to the community," says Condray.

The class will send the boxes to a Kansas platoon based in Iraq.

"It's kind of neat to get out of the textbook a little bit," says Condray, "and do some things that can really change you as an individual."

These are some of the many packages to go overseas in the coming weeks.

If you want to send something to the troops overseas, you're going to have to go through the post office to do it. And to make sure your package gets there by the holidays, you should mail it by Friday, November 13.

"The faster, the better, for sure," said Dustin Garton. The Mail Room Manager can send things via UPS and FedEx.

But if you're trying to send your package to a troop, you can only send it through the post office.

"For servicemen," said Garton, "there really isn't any other option. But if you've got relatives living overseas, and we send a lot of stuff to Australia, to Europe, you know, we have better options."

Those options have deadlines closer to Christmas, but they also cost more.

So if you're like Mr. Condray's class and sending a package to troops, get packing.

It may be the middle of November, but the holiday shipping deadline is right around the corner.

If you want to save some money when shipping to troops, the Postal Service offers a $2 discount
