TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) - An adviser says the presumed Democratic nominee for Kansas governor remains "100 percent" committed to the race.
Amy Jordan Wooden made the statement Friday, after the campaign manager for Republican Sam Brownback called Democratic hopeful Tom Wiggans "a fraud."
Brownback's campaign is pointing to a recently settled federal lawsuit in which Wiggans was a defendant. The lawsuit accused Wiggans and other executives of a company Wiggans once led of misleading investors.
The company, Connetics Corp., of Palo Alto., Calif., also was a defendant. In the settlement, the defendants agreed to pay nearly $12.8 million, plus interest. But Democrats have said there was no finding of wrongdoing.
