5 1/2 Months Out in KS-4, Republican Primary Voters Nod at Wink: In a Republican primary election for US Representative held in Kansas' 4th Congressional District today, 2/25/10, Wichita businessman Wink Hartman wins with 36% of the vote, according to this SurveyUSA poll conducted exclusively for KWCH-TV Wichita. Hartman today leads a bunched pack of five other candidates by margins of 3:1 or larger:
State Senator Dick Kelsey gets 11% of the vote.
State Senator Jean Schodorf gets 10%.
Businessman Mike Pompeo also gets 10% today.
Businessman Jim Anderson gets 6% of the vote.
State Representative Steve Brunk, who has not officially entered the race, takes 5% of the vote today.
The primary is in 159 days; the deadline for candidates to file to appear on the primary ballot is in 105 days: the slate of candidates named in this poll may shift as deadlines near. 7% of likely voters today say they will vote for another Republican; 15% today tell SurveyUSA they are undecided. All these factors combine to indicate the possibility of shifting support between now and August 3, when the primary will be held.
