Neonatal Special Care Unit

May 03, 2010

Southcentral Kansas' most advanced NSCU

Wesley’s Neonatal Special Care Unit (NSCU) is for premature or sick newborns who do not need assisted breathing or have improved during their stay in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Wesley's new NSCU provides the latest in design and technology for these special infants. They stay in private or semi-private rooms where lighting and noise can be adjusted to the baby's needs. Several rooms are available for twins, triplets, or more babies in one family. Families can enjoy more privacy and comfort. A sofa bed or a reclining chair is available in each room. Parents are encouraged to spend as much time as possible with their babies.

After graduating from the NSCU, babies may stay with their parents in a Family–Baby Room. Here the parents learn to be their baby's primary caregivers, using only the equipment they will have at home. Nurses provide instruction, support and encouragement.
