WICHITA, Kan. — Are Kansans going to rush out and make high-dollar purchases before the sales tax goes up on July First?

We found at least one store that's reminding consumers that things will cost them a little more once the one cent sales tax kicks in.

A one cent sales tax can add up.  It works out to about $10 for each $1,000.

The state sales tax will go up to 6.3% in July First, many counties in Kansas tack an additional sales tax onto that.  For example, Sedgwick County residents are charged an additional penny per dollar for local sales tax.

Eyewitness News Reporter Kim Wilhelm is talking with businesses and consumers today to find out if plans for big purchases have changed.
