From the road to the tanning bed, many new laws take effect July 1.
The statewide sales tax goes up one percent to 6.3% today.
Taxes also kick in for people who use tanning beds.
The statewide smoking ban goes into effect today, many public places in Kansas are now smoke free. State-owned casinos are exempt from the ban. Earlier this week, a judge ordered an injuction for nearly three dozen Kansas establishments who are fighting the ban.
Driving slow in the left lane is now illegal. The left lane is now for passing, making left turns, or moving for emergency crews or construction only. The law applies to multi-lane highways outside city limits. The fine is $60 pluc court costs.
Child care licensing laws change today. Lexi's Law mandates every day care in the state be licensed and inspected every year.
