July 11, 2010|By Grant Meech | KWCH 12 Eyewitness Sports

It took them nearly two hours but the Spanish come out on top and win their first World Cup title over the Netherlands, 1-0.

Andres Iniesta ripped the game winner past Dutch goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg in the 116th minute.

Netherlands' striker Arjen Robben had two chances to score before extra time but was denied by Spain's keeper, Iker Casillas.

The game was filled with ugly play as five yellow cards were issued in the first half and Xabi Alonso was kicked square in the chest.

This was Spain's first appearance in the World Cup Final and the Dutch's third.
