Pelfrey's start pushed back because of neck stiffness

July 16, 2010|By Jenn Bates

{SAN FRANCISCO, Cali.} — The New York Mets are pushing Mike Pelfrey's next start to Monday after the right-hander complained of stiffness in his neck following a flight to San Francisco earlier in the week.

Pelfrey (10-4) was scheduled to pitch against the Giants on Saturday but will take the mound against Arizona instead. Hisanori Takahashi (7-3) will start on Saturday.

Pelfrey hasn't pitched since giving up four runs and 12 hits in four innings in a 4-0 loss to Atlanta on July 10.
