(STOCKTON, Kan.) — A toddler drowns in Rooks County after he falls into his family's pool.
The accident happened Thursday night in the town of Stockton. Police there say three-year-old Phoenix Wise was playing with his brothers in their backyard.
He was only away from his parents for 10 minutes. But when his father returned, he found the boy underwater not breathing.
Phoenix's father carried him over to the house of a neighbor, who is a nurse and EMT. CPR was started.
The Stockton Ambulance Service arrived and rushed Phoenix to the Rooks County Health Center where he died.
According to a press release sent out Friday afternoon, despite the tragic accident, Phoenix's family donated his organs so that other children can live.
