(SEDGWICK COUNTY, Kan.) — Five-year-old Mason Allen Medlam has died two days after being pulled from a neighbor's pond.
Crews began searching for him around 10:45 Tuesday morning just southwest of Colwich.
Medlam wandered off from his home to the pond which is a quarter of a mile away. The boy was not breathing when he was found about a half hour later.
The sheriff's office says the boy's sister was watching him at the time when he wondered off. Crews performed CPR before taking him to the hospital.
Investigators are treating the incident as an accident.
