Kansas Secretary of State confident heat won't deter primary voters

August 02, 2010|By Chris Durden | KWCH 12 Eyewitness News

(WICHITA, Kan.) — Storm Team 12 predicts temperatures above 100 degree on Tuesday for the primary.

The office of Secretary of State Chris Biggs says while the heat may deter a few people from voting, they are confident it will not have a large impact.

A spokesperson says voters most impacted by the heat are those who would typically vote early or do so by mail. The Secretary of State's office predicts 19-percent voter turnout.

Biggs is running for the Democratic nomination to run for a full term as Secretary of State.
