(WICHITA, Kan.) — As children start to go back to school, many parents are looking for room in the budget to pay for some pretty expensive learning tools. After the pens and pencils, parents are also buying kids things like computers, smart phones, and sometimes even tablet computers.
That's because many parents feel their kids need to keep up with, know how to use and be experts with modern day technology.
Several tech companies realize that too. Take for example the Apple App Store which provides apps for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. There's an entire section with apps specifically designed for education.
But these educational tools come with a major price tag too.
"When it comes to the cost of it," said Darin Weier, who was shopping for a new computer for his teenage daughter, "the cost compared to what I had to have when I was in school, it's astronomical."
