(EL DORADO, Kan.) — Plans to build a multi-million football stadium for Butler Community College get a big boost.

Donors have given or plan to give $2 million toward the project. The largest single donation comes from BG Products. It has donated $1.25 million and will receive naming rights.

The stadium complex would be used by the college, El Dorado schools, and the city.

The BG Products Veterans Sports Complex will be located at the old American Legion Golf Course, near the Butler campus. It will accommodate 3,000 home fans and 1,000 visitors. In the future, it can be expanded to seat 4,500 and 2,000 respectively.

Butler is ranked No. 6 among the nation’s junior-college football teams in the preseason poll.

The Grizzlies have won five JUCO national championships since 1998, including titles in 2007 and 2008. It started its new season Thursday at Wichita's Cessna Stadium against Navarro College. The Grizzlies won 16-10.
