Wichita Open officially moves to June for 2011

{WICHITA, Kan.) — The 22nd Annual Preferred Health Systems Wichita Open announced today it will move from its usual August date to a new June date in 2011.   “I am very happy to announce that the Preferred Health Systems Wichita Open will move into June next year, which is a very positive step for everyone involved,” remarked Tournament Director, Roy Turner.

The tournament will begin on Monday, June 13 and conclude on Sunday, June 19 at Crestview Country Club.

“Our tournament is a week long, complete with great golf played by some of the best players in the world, and activities for the entire family.  We encourage everyone to come out and support the only professional golf event in Wichita and help us give back to those less fortunate in our community through our many charitable endeavors,” added Turner.

The field will consist of 156 members of the PGA TOUR’s Nationwide Tour and qualifiers.  Crestview Country Club’s North Course will once again host the event. The $600,000 purse will be the largest amount every awarded in the 22 years-history of the Wichita Open.  The 2010 winner was Jhonattan Vegas, who is currently 7th on the Nationwide Tour money list through the Mylan Classic.
