Wichita begins cleaning up storm debris

September 21, 2010|By Chris Durden | KWCH 12 Eyewitness News

(WICHITA, Kan.) — Wichita city crews begin picking up tree debris from areas hardest hit by last Wednesday's storms.

Crews are focusing on the area bounded by 31st Street South, Meridian and the south and east city limits. Crews will not make repeat trips after passing through a neighborhood.

Tree limbs must be cut into four-foot lengths and placed at the curb. Crews will not pick up roof, fence, patio furniture or other materials, and will not sort tree limbs from piles with construction debris.

Crews will not come onto private property to collect debris or take limbs longer than four feet. It isn’t known when crews will be in a specific area, because it’s unclear how long cleanups will take.

Residents with substantial tree damage outside of the defined area should call (316) 268-4013 if they need help.
