Power restored to thousands in west Wichtia

September 22, 2010|By Roger Cornish | KWCH 12 Eyewitness News

(WICHITA, Kan.) — Westar power crews have restored power to all but a handful of 2,300 customers in west Wichita. The lights went out about mid-day Wednesday.

More than 2,300 west Wichita residents were without power Wednesday afternoon.

Westar Energy tells us it was caused by an equipment failure at a substation. The utility does not expect the outage to last long.

One of the effects is the traffic light at Central & Ridge which is not currently working. Most of the outages are near I-235 and Kellogg.
