(TOPEKA, Kan.) — Governor Mark Parkinson asks the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture to declare Greeley and Thomas counties agricultural disaster areas.
Parkinson says it's because of production losses due to severe weather between July 10 and 12, 2010.
Hail, high winds and flash flooding hit Greeley and Thomas counties.
If the counties are declared agricultural disaster areas, farmers will be eligible for low-interest loans and other aid approved in the 2008 farm bill.
