(WICHITA, Kan.) — Those unseasonably warm temperatures mean more people are outside enjoying them, but it has also meant a boost for some local businesses.

The workers at Hong's Landscaping and Nursery are busy planting and watering flowers, but in this weather they don't mind the work. "People are more willing to work outside when it's not thirty degrees," said Lori Hong the retail manager.

They say their business has increased with the temperatures, extending their planting and landscaping season a good two to three weeks. "We're getting a lot of calls, people are outside noticing their yard and that's where we come in," Hong said.

The warm weather also makes it easier for construction workers. The guys working on the 47th street project say they're able to be more efficient.

"By this time we're usually in our coveralls and now we can wear short sleeves. it's nice," said construction worker Ernie Aragon.

The sun also helps business at Orange Leaf, a frozen yogurt shop.

"This weather makes me crave ice cream," said one customer.

Wichita usually receives a frost by October 28th. Parts of Northwest Kansas have already seen a frost this fall.
