Woman run over by her own car

(SEDGWICK COUNTY, Kan.) — The Sedgwick County Sheriff's Dept. says an elderly woman was killed when she was run over by her own car.

The accident happened around noon Friday at a home in the 100 block of W. 83rd St. South. That's where investigators say it appears the woman in her 80's got out of the car, but left it in gear.

Neighbors told investigators they saw the car going in reverse through the woman's yard. Investigators believe the woman was trying to stop the car, but somehow lost her footing and was run over. She died at the scene.

Deputies are interviewing neighbors to learn more about what happened. Investigators have not identified the victim.
