(HUTCHINSON, Kan.) — Wifi signals can be found just about everywhere. In coffee shops, fast food restaurants, even airports. Now, you'll be able to Tweet and browse the web from far below the Earth.

The Kansas Underground Salt Museum hosted a Tweet-up, an event where Twitter users can meet face to face, from 650 feet below the surface.

About 45 Twitterers took the elevator down, took out their cell phones and lap tops, and started tweeting.

"My Tweet was, 'so who else knew that the KUSM at 650 feet down ride is approximately 400 to 500 feet per minute,'" said Tweeter Amy Elzea.

"I still don't know why you need to Tweet anything, but it's just a lot of fun," said Ray Munoz who was also at the Tweet-up.

The museum ran an ethernet cable into the mine and set up a wifi signal. It went live Saturday evening specifically for the Tweet-up. Even though theres a wifi signal, there's no cell phone reception, so people won't be able to make voice calls unless their using a VOIP service like Skype.

The Underground Salt Museum wifi signal will only be available by the gift shop and not the entire museum. Officials said that's because the salt pillars completely block wifi signals.
