(WICHITA, Kan.) — Journal Broadcast Group (which includes our news partners at KFDI) has reached its 'Christmas Crusade for Children' goal for 2010.

The event matches needy children with people from the Wichita area who buy presents for the children. It's organized in conjunction with the Wichita Police Department.

This year, 700 children were matched with donors. New, unwrapped gifts will be dropped off between November 29 and December 17 to be wrapped by volunteers and distributed by Wichita police officers. Organizers are still collecting gifts that can go to kids that get on the list between now and Christmas.

KFDI radio will host an acoustic benefit performance featuring Josh Thompson at Cabaret Old Town’s theatre on Tuesday, November 30. Tickets are $10 each for the show, $20 for the show and special “meet and greet” with Thompson.

The 165 available tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis during regular business hours at the KFDI studios, 4200 N. Old Lawrence Rd. Only cash purchases will be accepted.

Every dollar raised from Thompson’s show goes to the 'Christmas Crusade.'

Money raised by the benefit performance will make sure every child in the Crusade receives gifts and help offset the costs of wrapping supplies.
