Package found outside Wichita business deemed safe

(WICHITA, Kan.) — We have learned that a suspicious device found at the FedEx Office Print & Ship Center on East Kellogg was not an explosive.

Now, Wichita police are looking for the man who dropped off a package. Employees at the center called 911 after the man exchanged words that alarmed them.

The Wichita Police bomb squad was called out to x-ray the package. They determined it was not explosive and took it away.

Investigators are now examining the addresses on the package. They hope the information can lead them to the man who dropped it off.

Wichita police have now shut down traffic along southbound Armor and eastbound Kellogg Drive due to a suspicious package that was found at the FedEx Office Print & Ship Center, 7701 E. Kellogg.

The Equity Bank Building, which is east of the business, has also been evacuated while police investigate.

Emergency crews have advised drivers to stay clear of the area.

Wichita police have blocked off the parking lot of FedEx Office Print & Ship Center, 7701 E. Kellogg, after employees find a suspcious package outside the business.

911 dispatchers tell Eyewitness News they received a call about the suspicious package around 4 p.m.

So far, traffic on Kellogg has not been affected.

Police have pushed people back from the "detonation point."

We have a crew headed to the scene and will update you on the situation as soon as more information becomes available.
