Storm Team 12: Wintry mix on the way

December 06, 2010|By Meteorologist Ross Janssen | Storm Team 12

Clouds will increase tonight ahead of our next storm system that will slide across the central Plains on Tuesday. Temperatures ahead of the system will not be as cold tonight, with lows dropping back into the low to mid 20s.

The chance for a wintry mix of rain and snow will develop in northwest Kansas Tuesday morning, and then spread across western Kansas into the early afternoon. Scattered rain showers will develop early in the afternoon in central Kansas, and as colder air moves in late in the day, rain showers will mix with and change to light snow Tuesday evening.

Temperatures should be just warm enough to prevent any significant snowfall accumulation, but a light dusting is possible in grassy areas.

Warmer weather will return for midweek with highs getting back into the 50s.
