WICHITA, Kan. — The Wichita Thunder lost 7-4 to the Tulsa Oilers at the INTRUST Bank Arena on Saturday night.
With the score tied at 2-2 in the second, Harrison Reed put the Oilers in front with a power play goal at 7:06, driving in a slot rebound to the right of Peter Delmas. Jack Combs made it 4-2 Tulsa with another power play goal at 8:37. Troy Schwab narrowed the gap to 4-3, beating Oilers' goaltender Ian Keserich from close range at 10:15.
The Oilers padded their lead in the third, scoring three times. Michel Beausolei was the beneficiary of a bouncing puck from behind the Thunder goal line that trickled past Marc-Antoine Gelinas at 3:14. Derek Hulak finished off a two-on-one play with help from Gary Steffes at 12:05 to make it 6-3. Robin Richards pulled the Thunder back within one, scoring on a backhand shot that snuck behind Keserich at 15:58, but Evan Kotsoplous iced the game with a shorthanded, empty net goal with just over 48 seconds left on the clock.
