(WICHITA, Kan.) — Water service to businesses and residents in the area east of Douglas and Seneca has been restored.
The main break undermined the pavement near the intersection of Douglas and Handley. The hole will be filled and temporary pavement repairs will be made Friday afternoon. Douglas is expected to reopen to traffic by Saturday morning.
City crews will repair the planters, light posts and sidewalks damaged by the break. Permanent pavement repairs to the street will be made next spring.
The cause of the break was a connection failure between a 12-inch main and a 24-inch main. The water main broke before one o'clock Thursday morning.
