K-State fans prepare for Pinstripe Bowl

December 28, 2010|By Megan Strader | KWCH 12 Eyewitness News

(WICHITA, Kan.) — Josh Wells has all the memorabilia you'd expect a K-State fan to have, and one thing every true K-State fan wishes they had.

"Here they are - arrived FedEx the other day - the Pinstripe Bowl tickets."

Wells and his wife will be leaving at 6 AM Wednesday morning to witness the Wildcats play in the first ever bowl game at the new Yankee Stadium.

"Got some great rates for flights and found some great seats and it's kind of our Christmas present to each other."

And unlike many unlucky travelers, Wells expects the weather to improve on the east coast just in time for his trip.

So, with boarding passes printed, he just hopes K-State will have same showing as the team's New York-based opponent.

"It may be a lot of orange and blue for Syracuse, I'm not sure, but I'll be there and hopefully a few thousand of our alums and our closest K-State friends will be there to pack it with purple."

And send the team, and himself, back home with a victory.
