(AUGUSTA, Kan.) — Butler County Sheriff Craig Murphy has a question. “Where are they all the coming from?”

He’s asking that question after two more of his patrol cars were damaged in deer related accidents this week.

His department has been involved in five deer related crashes since Thanksgiving, including one that more than likely totaled a patrol car. Murhpy says the deputy swerved to miss four deer in the road. The deputy is okay.

His department is also working more crashes.

“Since Thanksgiving we're working more than we've ever worked,” says Murphy.

Murphy is working with the state to determine if there are more crashes in his area this year.

“I don't know what the problem is, whether the population has grown or what's going on.”
