A special reunion

January 04, 2011|By Roger Cornish | KWCH 12 Eyewitness News

Five people sat down to share lunch Tuesday at Wichita's Via Christi Cancer Treatment Center.

Nothing too unusual about that.

But these five, who were total strangers last year, share a special bond now.

All are battling cancer, and all are from Cowley County.

Because of equipment problems at the Winfield Cancer Center, the five shared hour-long van trips to Wichita for treatment.

They range in age from 33 to 91, and despite very different backgrounds and lives, they found common ground in their battle with cancer.

This week, even though treatment ended last year, the five got together for a reunion lunch.

They told us how close they became during their van trips, and how much it surprised them.

So, Shannon, Jan, Bob, Norman and Phyllis...we wish you all the best.

Roger
