Emergency Accident Reporting Plan remains in effect for Wichita

(WICHITA, Kan.) — The Emergency Accident Reporting Plan, or EARP, is in effect in Wichita due to snow in metro area.

If you get into a an accident withing city limits and no one is hurt, both vehicles are driveable and alcohol or drugs are not inlvoved, do not call 911.

Instead, exchange information and fill out an accident reporting form. You can pick one up at any QuikTrip or police substation. You can also go to the city's website.

EARP is not in effect for Sedgwick County. Up to six inches of snow is expected in the metro area in the next 24 hours.

From five to nine Monday morning, 911 dispatch reported 130 accidents on Wichita streets.

Wichita Police substations are located at the following addresses:

  • Patrol North 3015 E. 21st  350-3400,
  • Patrol South 211 E. Pawnee 350-3440,
  • Patrol East 350 S. Edgemoor 350-3420,
  • Patrol West 661 N. Elder  350-3460.

The City of Wichita's Public Works & Utilities department has 60 staffers working on snow-removal equipment across the city and another 20 workers clearing roads in the Core Area and downtown.

The crews are working 12-hour shifts.
