(WICHITA, Kan.) — "It's real slick, it's a mess," said Paul Shoate.
For Shoate, it was the sidewalks that proved especially treacherous Thursday morning.
"I fell down a couple of times up front and about fell down back here," he said.
He was up and salting at Wichita's Transit Center at 4:00 in the morning.
"I've got my jacket and gloves on and I am freezing," said Shoate.
More than five boxes of ice melt in two hours and Shoate says it's almost too cold for it to work.
"The ice melt isn't really working. It's just freezing right back as soon as it dries. It's a mess.
While the busses were up and running as scheduled some had a tough time stopping in the parking lot.
It's not just sidewalks but roads are dicey in spots as well. One car was driving on Kellogg, lost control, and ended up running into a group of trees in a residential neighborhood.
