Reno Co. mother bound over for trial in child's death

February 08, 2011|By Eyewitness News

(RENO COUNTY, Kan.) — Prosecutors say a mother's efforts to warm up her three-month old led to the baby's death.

Brigit Hippen was in court for a preliminary hearing on Tuesday.

Eyewitnesses say after the girl spit up, she took off the baby's clothes, but later worried she was cold. They say she put her in her bassinette, pointed a hair dryer at her and went back to bed.

Several hours later she found the baby dead.

Doctors say her core temperature was 108 degrees.

Hippen was bound over for trial. She'll be back in court next month.
