(WICHITA, Kan.) — Investigators say a candle is to blame for a house fire in northeast Wichita Thursday morning. Crews from the Sedgwick County and Wichita fire departments were called to the 7400 block of E. Winterberry just before 7:00 am.
Crews were able to get the fire under control quickly, but not before it caused around $50,000 in damage.
Fire officials say a child lit a candle too close to combustibles, which burst into flames.
Three people were in the home at the time. No one was hurt.
