March 18, 2011|By Missy Traskowsky | KWCH 12 Eyewitness News

(ELK COUNTY, Kan.) — An overturned truck carrying an oversize load leaves a section of Highway 99 closed in Elk County south of Howard and north of Moline.

Kansas Highway Patrol says the truck was hauling a 100,000 pound load. The truck went off the shoulder of the highway and into the ditch.

Special equipment is being brought in to transfer the load to a second truck capable of transporting oversize load.

KHP hopes to have the highway back open on Saturday.
