Police issue nearly 400 tickets along Kellogg Wednesday

(WICHITA, Kan.) — Local police officers handed out nearly 400 traffic citations along Kellogg Wednesday.  Officers set up between 7 am and 7 pm between Goddard and Augusta.

At last count, drivers were issued 393 citations.

- 44 FOR SEAT BELTS
- 272 FOR SPEEDING
- 1 DUI
- 2 FELONY DRUG
- 1 STOP LIGHT VIOLATION
- 3 PASSING LANE VIOLATIONS
- 4 NO DRIVER'S LICENSE

The top speed was 83 IN 60

Authorities say they plan on holding more events like this in the future.

The Wichita Police Department and several other agencies are working together this week to get drivers to slow down along Kellogg.

"Operation Impact" is a multi-agency initiative to enforce the speed limit on Kellogg from Goddard to Augusta.

The Wichita Police Department, Sedgwick County Sheriffs Department, Goddard Police Department, Andover Police Department, Augusta Police Department, Butler County Sheriffs Department, and the Kansas State Highway Patrol are all taking part.

Operation Impact runs from 7:00 am Wednesday to 7:00 am Thursday.

"Our goal is to get drivers to slow down, obey the posted speed limit, practice safe driving habits, and wear their seatbelts," said Sgt. Jim Krok with the Wichita Police Department in a press release.

Sgt. Krok says Wichita police have already issued more than 400 speeding citations for drivers along Kellogg.
