Trego County authorities investigate murder-suicide

(OGALLAH, Kan.) —

The Trego County Sheriff's Department investigating a the deaths of two people found with gunshot wounds last month say the case was a murder-suicide. 

Authorities say 51-year-old Susan Hearting was killed by a gunshot wound fired by her husband, 56-year-old Duane Hearting, who then fatally shot himself.

The incident happened March 26 in Ogallah.

The sheriff's department is still investigating, and anyone with information regarding the deaths is asked to call the Trego County Sheriff's Office at (785)743-5721.

Investigators discovered the bodies of the Heartings at their rural home near Ogallah after the request for a welfare check.

Officials have not said how they died and say the investigation continues into their deaths.------
