(WICHITA, Kan.) — If Wichita State University wins Thursday night's game, the school will take home a trophy and little else.
School officials say the real benefit of the championship comes over time. The TV exposure the school received could increase enrollment. Plus, the school is expecting an increase in revenues thanks to all of the merchandise that was sold during the tournament.
The school stressed that it does not receive any money from either the NIT or the NCAA for winning. However, the school is reimbursed from the conference for travel and other expenses.
