(MCPHERSON, Kan.) — McPherson College gets a anonymous gift of $1.2 million toward a new entrepreneurship initiative.
McPherson College president Michael Schneider says the gift will help pay for their first Entrepreneurship Fellow, hire the first Entrepreneurship Center executive director, fund new courses, fund their Horizon Fund that will provide micro grants for student ideas and fund the Global Enterprise Challenge sending a team of students to start a social enterprise in Haiti.
The plan stems from an effort in the college to lift up the concept of liberal arts and weave entrepreneurship across the curriculum, regardless of a students' major.
Projects already undertaken with the Horizon Fund include building a community garden on campus, starting a not-for-profit recording label for Christian music and a battery recycling program.
