(WICHITA,, Kan.) — A Wichita jury is now deliberating the fate of accused killer Alejandro Betancourt. Jurors must decide if he's guilty of first degree murder, or lesser charges in a revenge shooting last June that took the life of an innocent 13 year-old boy.
During closing statements, prosecutor Trinity Muth told jurors the case comes down to a statement the defendant made to his sister-in-law shortly after the crime. "We did it. Those three words tell us his intent, his knowledge, his participation, his motive," said Muth.
