(WICHITA, Kan.) — Wichita police want you to be on the lookout for copper thieves. Police tell Eyewitness News that someone broke into two vacant warehouses in the 2000 block of Southwest Boulevard and stripped them of copper wire and plumbing fixtures.
Police estimate the damage at around $200,000, which includes the cost to repair and replace the missing equipment.
Police believe higher prices for copper and other metals could be a motive for the crime.
They're asking residents to be on the lookout for suspicious activity, especially around vacant homes and buildings in their neighborhoods.
No arrests have been made.
