FHSU Baseball gets series split with UNO

HAYS, Kansas — A wild weekend of baseball at Larks Park ends with a weekend split for the Fort Hays State University baseball team.

On Friday, the Tigers scored 28 runs, but still dropped both games of their double header with the Mavericks. In game one, FHSU feel behind 6-0 early and could never quite catch up, even though they manageed to put up 8 runs of their own. The Tigers gave up 17 runs total, for the 17-8 loss. In game two, it took 10 innings and 46 runs to settle the night cap. The game took took four hours and seven minutes to complete. The Mavs put up a six spot in the top of the 10th to pick up the 26-20 victory.

On Saturday, the runs just kept on coming. FHSU put up 6 runs in game one and got a 5 strike out performance from Connor Beer. They held on for the 6-4 victory. In game two, the Tigers punded out 17 more runs, to pick up a 17-7 run rule victory to close the series out.

Fort Hays State is now 22-18 in the season and 19-15 in the MIAA.
