Junk Food Diet: The Fine Print

May 06, 2011|by Karl Man | KWCH 12 Eyewitness News

(SALINA, Kan.) — KWCH and Sunflower Broadcasting are in no way endorsing this diet or even suggesting you try it at home. Dr. Mark Haub, the originator of this diet, did it as a school experiment…he also does not back the plan. In fact, nutritionists we've talked with said eating nothing but junk food is not an ideal way to lose weight.

We are simply just trying to do a “hands on” journalistic approach to the story, a way to give you the viewer a more intimate look at what a lifestyle like this consists of. I volunteered myself to do this trial diet for a month because I enjoy the realistic style of journalism it breeds.

To be clear, this junk food diet doesn't mean I get to just eat tons of candy and cupcakes. I'm still watching my calories; I'm still working out on a daily basis. Every morning I take a multi-vitamin to make sure I'm getting the nutrition my body needs, and I am allowed a protein shake daily.

I'm under a doctor's supervision throughout this ordeal and I know what signs to look for if my body starts to disagree with the junk food diet.
