{FAYETTEVILLE, Ar.} — Wichita State (17-10, 7-0 MVC) fell to No. 15 Clemson University (20-10, 6-5 ACC), 4-0 on Saturday in the first round of the 2011 NCAA Tennis tournament. The Shockers-Tigers match was played in cold, windy conditions at the Billingsley Family Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Arkansas.
In doubles the Shockers fought hard against the Tigers in all three matches but were unable to capture the point. Freshman Veronika Blaskova and Montse Blasco Fernandez faced a tough opponent in Josipa Bek and Keri Wong, the No.
6 ranked doubles team in the country, in the No. 1 match and the freshman battled hard but fell 8-1 to the Tigers duo. In the No. 3 match, Delia Damaschin and Carla Venticinque gave Caroline Magnusson and Kiara Vyskocilova a good test but were defeated, 8-1 to give Clemson the point.
Raphaela Zotter and Lutfiana Budiharto were down 5-4 in the No.2 match when the point was decided.
