Police: Argument between brothers led to deadly shooting

(Wichita, Kan.) — Update: Wichita police have identified the victim from this weekend's deadly shooting as 20-year-old Malaki Washington.

Washington was shot in the stomach early Sunday morning and died at the hospital three hours later.

Police arrested Washington's 23-year-old brother in connection with the shooting. Police say the two were arguing outside, started fighting and wrestling over the gun.  The victim originally had the gun, but it was taken away by the suspect then used against him.

The suspect was booked for on one count of Second Degree Murder.

One man is in custody and another is dead after a shooting early this morning. Emergency dispatchers say the shooting happened shortly after midnight in the 1600 block of North Estelle.

The victim was taken to Wesley Medical Center just after 12:30am. He died just a short time according to officials at the hospital.

The victim, believed to be in his early 20s, was found in the front yard of a residence with a gunshot wound.

A male suspect in his late 20s or early 30s was taken into custody for questioning by police. The relationship between he and the victim is unknown.

Other witnesses were also taken to city hall for questioning.
