Letter Carrier Food Drive brings in 150k lbs of food

(WICHITA, Kan.) — The Annual Letter Carrier Food Drive brought in nearly 150,000 pounds of food last weekend.  The US Postal Service asked residents to put food out for their letter carrier to collect last Saturday.

The letter carrier food drive is held on the second Saturday in May in more than 10,000 cities and towns across the US. 

Here is a breakdown of donations in Wichita from the post office:

  • River city 21,400
  • Chisholm 22,284
  • Delano 27,813
  • North 15,106
  • Downtown 19,047
  • Munger 21,521
  • Corp 22,337
  • Total: 149,509
